Local GAA club St Comgalls GAA have taken part in a shoe-box appeal to help families supported by DePaul at Christmas time. Antrim GAA in conjunction with Saint Vincent De Paul, are appealing for donations of shoe boxes for homeless men and women throughout Northern Ireland. Families were encouraged to donate one wrapped shoe box, which should be clearly marked as being for a man/woman/family in need, filled with standard non-perishable items including shower gel, shampoo, hats, gloves, towels, hairbrushes etc.
Club Chairman Paddy Quinn said, “We are justifiably proud, in the GAA, of our sense of community and the good work done throughout Antrim town, county and the country, so we want to help those who may have fallen on difficult circumstances. I would like to thank those who threw an extra couple of items in their trolleys on the run up to Christmas to bring a little bit of cheer to people less fortunate. A shoe-box appeal is a really simple way of making a difference, so i would encourage others to follow the example of DePaul and Antrim Gaels.
