I am asking for your support with an upcoming fundraiser for former football captain, Anto Finnegan. I’m sure Anto needs no introduction and you will be familiar with his campaign to raise both funds and awareness for motor neurone disease following his shock diagnosis in 2012.
Never one to shy away from a battle, Anto has faced this challenge with the same grit and courage he so often displayed while wearing an Antrim jersey and established his own charity deterMND to help support others live with the neurological condition.
It is therefore fitting that we as a GAA community come together and support our former captain. We are organising a 5K Colour Run and Family Fun Day on Sunday 23rd September. The run will take place at Falls Park is open to runners of all ages, abilities and, most importantly, clubs!
We want to see teams from all clubs in Antrim taking part and helping to make this a truly memorable event for a fantastic cause. The registration fee is £10.00 per runner with a discounted fee of £5.00 for children under 16. All monies raised will go directly to the charity and runners are encouraged to seek sponsorship. Registration can be done online or at the O’Neills sportswear shop in the Kennedy Centre, this Saturday from 11am.
The Devenish Complex in Belfast has kindly offered a free burger for all participants and put on a Family Fun Day after the race so whether it’s a team building day or family day out, the event will provide quality entertainment for everyone.
I trust you will join us in supporting this hugely worthy cause and I look forward to welcoming you and your club members at Falls’ Park in September. #GetBookedIn
